Narcissism

I'm Richard, I'm English, and recently moved to California to get married. Getting here's been daunting, complicated and stressful. But the more I find out about America the more fascinating it seems.

I met Stacey, now my wife, in 2007 when we were postgrads at the University of Durham in the north of England. Stacey went back home to California's Central Coast six months after we started dating. After enduring a long-distance relationship for two and a half years, during which we crossed the Atlantic roughly a dozen times, juggled time differences and became extremely grateful for the existence of Skype and MSN, I was finally granted a US visa and came to California in May 2011. We married in June.

I'm looking at America from the point of view of a foreigner. I'm looking forward learning new things. I'm prepared to be amused, baffled, overjoyed, generally amused and occasionally infuriated by what I find here. I expect to have my preconceptions challenged while experiencing the iconic. I like photography and cookery, and these will be tools I'll use to communicate whatever it is I learn.

Please comment and correspond; I'd love to hear from you.
